Is it safe to have a lot of family members hold a day old baby?

I was almost cringing when more than 10 family members were ping around my new grandson (1 day old) in the hospital, holding, talking to him,cooing, etc. Love the love but I thought this was dangerous. Baby brother is due today and this worries me.
