What about surrogacy?

I have always thought about being a surrogate and recently I found out one of my co-workers, who I adore, can not have children and is looking to adopt. i do not know her complications or why she can't have children but do know she can not carry. I am 27, very healthy, have no children of my own, and am not in a relationship. I feel like this point in my life would be the best time for me to give this gift to someone. how do you tell someone i am willing to do this for them, especially if they did not ask? I would rather not go through an agency bc I would like to personally know the parents. I have just begun research so any info would be appreciated.
